Green Tea Face Wash for a simple Bathhouse face care routine

How to Build a Simple Face Care Routine for Different Skin Types

Every so often a customer asks the question that almost everyone has wondered at some point: what order do I actually use my skincare products in?

The good news is that a face-care routine does not need to be complicated to be useful. Most people are better served by a small routine they can repeat than by a crowded shelf of products they are not sure how to layer.

At Bathhouse Trading Company, our simplest face routine starts with three core steps: cleanse with Green Tea Face Wash, hydrate with Hyaluronic Acid Serum with Rose Water & Vitamin B5, and moisturize with Bakuchiol Facial Cream with Green Tea & Reishi Mushroom Extract. From there, add Caffeine + Peptide Eye Serum or Night Shift Facial Oil only when they fit what your skin is asking for.

The simple rule: cleanse, hydrate, moisturize

If you only remember one thing, remember this order:

  1. Cleanse to remove daily buildup and start with fresh skin.
  2. Hydrate with a lightweight serum while skin is still slightly damp.
  3. Moisturize to help keep that comfort in place.
  4. Add targeted steps, like eye serum or facial oil, when they solve a clear need.

That structure keeps the routine understandable. It also makes it easier to tell what is helping, because each product has a clear job.

The core Bathhouse face routine

Step 1: Green Tea Face Wash

Green Tea Face Wash is the cleanse step. It uses plant-derived cleansing agents with matcha green tea, honey, murumuru butter, chamomile, and calendula to create a fresh cleanse that still belongs in a gentle daily routine.

Use it morning and night if your skin likes that rhythm. If your skin runs dry or easily irritated, start once a day at night and rinse with lukewarm water in the morning.

Step 2: Hyaluronic Acid Serum with Rose Water & Vitamin B5

Hyaluronic Acid Serum is the hydration step. It brings together aloe, rose hydrosol, glycerin, witch hazel, vitamin B5, and sodium hyaluronate to help skin feel refreshed, hydrated, and ready for moisturizer.

Apply one to two pumps after cleansing, ideally while your skin is still a little damp. This is especially helpful when skin feels tight after washing or when the routine needs a lightweight moisture boost without feeling heavy.

Step 3: Bakuchiol Facial Cream

Bakuchiol Facial Cream is the moisturizer step. It combines bakuchi oil, green tea extract, reishi mushroom extract, rose hydrosol, meadowfoam oil, apricot oil, and glycerin in a cream texture that feels more complete than serum alone.

Use a small amount after serum on the face and neck. For many people, this is the step that makes the routine feel finished.

Morning routine

  1. Cleanse with Green Tea Face Wash, or rinse with lukewarm water if your skin is drier in the morning.
  2. Pat on Caffeine + Peptide Eye Serum if you use an eye step.
  3. Apply Hyaluronic Acid Serum while skin is slightly damp.
  4. Finish with Bakuchiol Facial Cream.
  5. Use your daily SPF before sun exposure.

The morning routine should feel clean and comfortable, not overly rich. If your face feels heavy before the day starts, use less cream or save facial oil for nighttime.

Night routine

  1. Cleanse with Green Tea Face Wash to remove the day.
  2. Pat on Caffeine + Peptide Eye Serum if the eye area is part of your routine.
  3. Apply Hyaluronic Acid Serum.
  4. Use Bakuchiol Facial Cream for your normal nighttime moisturizer step.
  5. Choose Night Shift Facial Oil as your final step when you want a richer overnight finish, generally as a replacement for Bakuchiol Facial Cream.

Where the add-ons fit

Caffeine + Peptide Eye Serum

Caffeine + Peptide Eye Serum is a targeted step for the under-eye area. It includes caffeine extract, aloe, glycerin, vitamin B5, green tea, mushroom extracts, chamomile, peptide complex, and hyaluronic acid.

Use a small amount after cleansing and before heavier products. Tap it in gently with your ring finger instead of rubbing. It is a good add-on when tired-looking or puffy under-eyes are one of your main concerns.

Night Shift Facial Oil

Night Shift Facial Oil is best treated as a finishing step, especially at night. It includes rosehip, argan, hemp, jojoba, squalane, grapeseed, daikon seed extract, chamomile, vitamin E, and lavender essential oil.

Use a few drops when skin feels dry, dull, or ready for a slower nighttime ritual. It also gives nice slip for a jade roller or gua sha routine. If you are breakout-prone or new to facial oils, start with one drop and use it only a few nights a week while you learn how your skin responds.

How to adjust by skin type

If your skin feels dry or dehydrated

Keep the routine focused on hydration and moisture support. Use Green Tea Face Wash gently, apply Hyaluronic Acid Serum to slightly damp skin, then follow with Bakuchiol Facial Cream.

If your skin is oily or combination

Do not skip moisturizer just because your skin gets oily. Often the better move is to keep the layers lighter. Cleanse, use Hyaluronic Acid Serum, then apply a smaller amount of Bakuchiol Facial Cream. Use Night Shift Facial Oil only where you need it, or save it for occasional nighttime use, generally as a replacement for Bakuchiol Facial Cream.

If your skin is sensitive or easily irritated

Start small and introduce one product at a time. Use lukewarm water, avoid aggressive scrubbing, and give each new step several days before adding another. If any product stings, burns, or makes irritation worse, stop using it.

If you are breaking out in one area

A consistent routine can help your skin feel more balanced, but it is not a substitute for acne care from a medical professional. Keep the routine simple, avoid scrubbing the breakout area, and do not stack every new product at once. Cleanse gently, hydrate lightly, and use a modest amount of moisturizer. If breakouts are painful, persistent, spreading, or leaving marks, it is worth checking in with a dermatologist.

If your skin looks dull or tired

Focus on consistency first. Green Tea Face Wash keeps the cleanse step fresh, Hyaluronic Acid Serum supports a plumper hydrated feel, and Bakuchiol Facial Cream gives the routine a more complete finish. Add Eye Serum in the morning or Night Shift Facial Oil at night when you want the routine to feel more intentional.

What should you use as a wash cloth?

For everyday face washing, use a very soft, clean cloth and gentle pressure. A fresh cotton or muslin face cloth is a good choice. Use it once, let it dry fully, and wash it often so you are not reintroducing old oil, makeup, or bacteria back onto your face.

If you want light exfoliation, our Natural Loofah Rounds 4-Pack can be used carefully after soaking until soft. Keep the pressure light, use circular motions, and limit that kind of exfoliation to one to three times per week. Do not scrub active breakouts or irritated skin.

A realistic starter plan

If you are starting fresh, do not buy every add-on at once. Start with the core three for two weeks:

  1. Green Tea Face Wash
  2. Hyaluronic Acid Serum
  3. Bakuchiol Facial Cream

Once that feels consistent, add Caffeine + Peptide Eye Serum if the eye area is a priority. Add Night Shift Facial Oil if nighttime dryness, facial massage, or a richer evening finish is the next need, using it as a nighttime swap for Bakuchiol Facial Cream when that makes more sense for your skin.

That gives you a routine that is specific enough to follow, flexible enough for different skin types, and simple enough to keep using.
